NZ Website Designers - Customised Web Solution Story

Customised Solution Case Study

Duke & Cooke Ltd - www.valuersnelson.co.nz An example of this is the website for leading nelson valuation company, Duke & Cooke Ltd. Duke & Cooke produce reports to monitor the property markets in Nelson. They wanted to be able to update reports on their website each week.

The old process

Previously it was time consuming and costly. Updated manually by their previous designer, once amended, the client needed to check it, email the alterations back to the designer and then recheck each page, repeating the process to ensure it was correct before approving it to go live.

An innovative solution

By providing them with a customised solution, they now update it themselves each week. What's more we made this function so easy that they are able to delegate this one tedious task to junior administrative staff so that senior staff spend their time more effectively. so not only did they save time from going back and forth to the previous designer, they were able to control it in house, saving time and administration costs.

W3C World Wide Standards Compliance

"So what's all this talk about W3C standards and how does this affect my website" we hear you ask

The world wide web consortium set up a group of standards to be used as a guideline

Search Engine Visibility

If your website is designed using the latest W3C standards, it is easier for search engines to crawl through the site so the search engines give you preference over a site that is not standards compliant. Please note here that we are not implying that a W3C standards compliant website is not the only ingredient that ensures favourable search engine rankings, there are many other factors that work alongside this to ensure success. We are the experts in Search Engine Optimisation so talk to us about your requirements.

Browser Compatibility

A site created using standard based code performs generally better in the majority of browsers.

Future Proofing

Using standards compliant programming can help save both time and money. If a site has been created correctly it will both be downgradeable for older browsers and at the same time will work in the newer browsers.

Development costs time and money - Do it right the first time and save in the long run!

In NZ it is not yet law to be W3C compliant, however, all central and local government websites are required to comply. In the USA & Australia, it is compulsory to comply so we feel that this world wide best practice is best to adhere to as an industry benchmark.
When it does become law in NZ, you are ahead of your game and won’t have to find extra budget for compliance costs when it should have been done correctly in the first place.

Accessibility

Site that is based upon W3C standards automatically helps screen readers read out the content for people with visual impairments.
